On March 1, 2014, following approval by the companies' shareholders, Apple REIT Seven, Inc. and Apple REIT Eight, Inc. merged into Apple REIT Nine, Inc. in two merger transactions. Following the completion of these transactions, Apple REIT Nine’s name was changed to Apple Hospitality REIT, Inc. The newly combined company is one of the largest hospitality REITs in the U.S. with 173 hotels that contain more than 22,000 guestrooms.
